Frequently Asked Questions

Ordering and delivery

Delivery anywhere in South Africa is a flat R120. Orders over R1,750 ship free.

If the piece is in stock, 3 to 5 working days. If we need to make it, 7 to 10. We run short production runs rather than holding deep stock, so some sizes are made to order. If yours is one of them we will tell you. And if you are at all concerned, or you have not heard from us when you expected to, just reach out. We would much rather you asked than sat wondering.

The Courier Guy, to your door, anywhere in South Africa.

You will get a tracking number as soon as the collection is booked. It will not show any movement until the parcel has actually been collected from the studio, so an empty tracking page in the first day or so is normal rather than a problem. If something feels wrong, don't hesitate to reach out and we will chase it up.

Yes. Choose studio collection at checkout and we will let you know when it is ready. We are at The Palms Centre, 145 Sir Lowry Road, Woodstock. Give us a shout before you come so we can make sure someone is there for you.

Yes, though we handle international orders case by case rather than as a standard option at checkout. Email us with what you would like and where you are and we will work out the cost and get it to you. Proper international shipping is something we are setting up.

Visa, Mastercard and American Express, local and international, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay. Payments are processed securely through Yoco.

Sizing and fit

Our sizing chart has the measurements for every block, and most of our pieces are cut relaxed rather than close. If you are between sizes or unsure, message us before you order. We would rather help you get the size right than have you end up unhappy with what arrives.

Yes, in SS shirts, LS shirts, pants and shorts, though not in every fabric or print. If you want XS in something that is not showing, ask us. If we still have the fabric, we can usually make it.

Often, yes. We are open to custom sizing within our existing styles. Depending on what is needed there may be a surcharge for pattern-making or extra fabric, but we will tell you what it is before we start. Send us a message and we will work out whether it is possible.

Hardly. We pre-shrink before you even see the garment: we hot wash and tumble dry our fabric before cutting, which takes out the initial shrinkage of up to 15%. After that, as long as you cold or cool wash at 30 degrees or below and keep it out of the tumble dryer, any further shrinkage should be marginal.

Fabric and care

Cold or cool gentle wash, cool iron, do not dry clean, do not tumble dry. That is what is on the label inside every garment and it covers shirts, shorts, pants and tees. Washing cold and air drying is what keeps the fit and the handle the way you bought them.

Same cold or cool water, but use a gentle or wool cycle. Spin it dry, then lay it flat over the washing line or on a towel rather than hanging it. Knitwear gets heavy when it is wet, and hanging it while it is holding water is what pulls it out of shape.

The same way as knitwear. Gentle or wool cycle, cold, spin dry, then flat over the line or on a towel. Jackets hold a lot of water and hanging them wet will stretch them.

Yes. Cashmere-Feel does not like friction, and friction is what causes pilling. Wash it inside out in a mesh washing bag, on a gentle cycle, and wash it only when it actually needs it. Spot clean where you can. The less it rubs against everything else in the drum, the longer it stays smooth.

Our fabric is pre-washed and made to be washed at home. Dry cleaning solvents are harsher than anything your machine will do on a cold cycle, and there is nothing in our garments that needs them.

Tumble drying is the main thing that shrinks natural fibres. We have already taken the big shrinkage out of the fabric before cutting, but heat in a dryer will still undo some of that. Air dry and the piece stays the size you bought.

Yes, and that is linen doing what linen does rather than a fault. If you want the creases out, iron it while it is still slightly damp, or press it with a damp cloth. Plenty of people leave it to crease, because it gives a different look.

Natural fibres, mostly. Linen, cotton, viscose, Tencel and Lyocell, and blends of them. All of it is sourced locally. We start with the cloth rather than the design: we go looking for fabric we like the feel of, then decide what it wants to become. If it does not feel right in the hand, it does not get made.

Exchanges and returns

Yes, within 30 days, as long as it is unworn, unwashed and still part of our current range. Bring it to the studio or courier it back to us and we will swap it for another size, another colour or something else entirely.

Ask us. If the piece has not been worn or washed and it is still in the current range, we will almost always allow it. We want you to wear and love what you bought, and a deadline is not much use to anyone if it gets in the way of that.

We handle refunds case by case, and we would rather find you something you actually want. If a size is wrong, we will swap it. If the piece is not right for you, we will help you find one that is. If we do not have your size and we still have the fabric, we will make it for you. That is usually a better outcome than money back, and it is something we can do that a bigger brand cannot.

We ask that you cover it. Courier costs have climbed and as a small business we cannot absorb them on every return, so it is the one place we have to ask. We recommend using a tracked courier. If we have sent you the wrong item, or something arrives faulty or damaged, that is on us and we will arrange and pay for the collection ourselves.

Yes, and it is the easiest way to do it. Come to the studio, bring the piece, and we will sort it out there and then. You get to try things on properly at the same time.

Bring it in or send it back and we will exchange it. You do not need a receipt or proof of purchase. If it is unworn and it is ours, we will help you.

Tell us and we will look. If the fabric is still in the studio we can usually make it. If it is gone, we will show you what else we have in that cloth, or find you something close. Our runs are short, so a sold-out size is not always the end of it.

The studio

The Palms Centre, 145 Sir Lowry Road, Woodstock, Cape Town. We are generally there Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm, but treat that as a guideline rather than a guarantee. Give us a shout before you come so we can make sure someone is there for you.

Yes, and we would rather you did. We keep the full range on display, so the studio is the only place you will see everything at once, including pieces that never make it onto the website. It is also where the clothes are made, so you get someone who knows how each piece is cut and how it will sit on you.

Email, WhatsApp, phone or the contact form. They all reach the same person. A day or two of notice is ideal, but if something is urgent, say so and we will make a plan.

Minor alterations are free, especially on pieces bought at the studio. Anything more involved we can discuss, and it usually costs between R100 and R300. We have a machinist in-house, so a sleeve length or a hem is not a problem.

Stockists and availability

We are stocked in a number of stores across Cape Town, Hermanus, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. The full list is on our stockists page. What each store carries varies, so if you are after something specific it is worth checking with us first.

Message us. Our runs are short and the studio often has pieces the website does not, either because they are one-offs, because the shoot has not happened yet, or because there are only a couple left. If we have it, we will sell it to you.

About

Designed in our Woodstock studio and made in Cape Town. We source all our fabric locally, sample and finish in-house, and produce with skilled CMT teams across greater Cape Town. Nothing is made anywhere else.

We get asked this more than anything else. The brand is run by a mother and son, so the assumption is that one of us is each. The honest answer is that it moves around depending on the day, the deadline and who has had coffee. The name is about the balance between the two rather than a label on either of us.
