The Brand

A brand built on
fabric and feeling.

A brand that feels like a person, not a company.

The brand should feel like a person, not a company. A well-dressed friend with strong opinions about fabric. Someone who doesn't push you toward anything, gives it to you straight, and whose taste you trust because it shows up consistently in everything they do.

That means trend-informed but never trend-dependent. We take what's happening globally, filter it through our own sense of what actually works, and land on pieces that feel current without being difficult. SA adopts trends more slowly. We're sometimes ahead of that curve. That's a feature, not a mistake.

No logos. No hype. Fits that make sense for the life you actually live. And a studio where shopping feels like a conversation, not a transaction. The guided experience is something no bigger brand or online-only competitor can replicate. That's the part we protect most.

The Fabric

The fabric decides. Everything else follows.

We spend more time in fabric markets and with mills than at a drawing board. We run cloth through our hands, hold it to light, wear it against skin. A particular linen suggests a shape. An unusual texture finds its form. The sketch comes, but it follows the fabric, not the other way around.

We work almost exclusively in natural fibres: linen, cotton, wool, and cashmere-feel knits. They breathe, they age well, and they feel like something worth actually keeping. If it doesn't genuinely excite us at the roll, it doesn't make it to your wardrobe.

Made in Cape Town

It starts the same way every time.

The two of them driving around Cape Town, working through warehouses and wholesale suppliers, hunting through mountains of fabric for something worth getting excited about. Most of it is forgettable. Every so often you come across a roll that stops you: a weight that drapes differently, a texture you keep running through your fingers, a colour that hasn't quite been done right yet. Those are the ones that matter.

The menswear side began simply enough. Robert wasn't inspired by what the local market was offering and wanted to make clothes he actually wanted to wear. He asked Janet if they could try it. Her answer: "Sure, we can do anything."

The conversation with Janet would start there, at the roll, not the drawing board. Those conversations became patterns. Patterns became samples. Samples became a range. People tried them on and didn't want to take them off. That's roughly how it started, and it's still roughly how it works.

Every decision, from which fabric to which cut to which pieces make the range, gets made together in the studio. It's a constant back-and-forth between instinct and experience, and the clothes are better for it.

From there, production goes to skilled CMT teams across greater Cape Town. Every piece comes back to us to be checked, pressed, and finished before it goes anywhere near a customer. Local, always. Not as a selling point. Just the right way to make things.
